Dear Readers,Â
‘Hold on,’ I hear you say. ‘Don’t you arrange free book days and bargain days for your books yourself. How come you didn’t see it coming?’
Excellent question. And eminently logical. You’re right, I do arrange them myself (in the current absence of an army of assistants). However, this is an unusual instance. And one for which authors hold their breath.
Â
A Unique Opportunity
Â
You’ve heard of BookBub? You might be a subscriber or have heard me tell of the wonders of their millions of readers, including the 1.6 million fans of cozy mystery and approaching that for fantasy (as the Amanda Cadabra series sits between the two).
To reach as many new readers as possible, as an author, you want them to write to their readers in the USA, UK, Canada and Australia and tell them your book is free. And you can’t just book. You can only request. Why?
Â
Please, Sir, Can I Have …?
Â
Why can you only ask nicely? This is one of the most significant opportunities a book can have to reach the broadest possible audience, who might otherwise never discover a series they might adore. Bookbub receives thousands of submissions every month, but has limited space in the emails they send out. So, they can only say yes to about 15%.
Â
I should know. I’ve applied over 50 times in the last 3 years. I received a yes for the UK, Canada, and Australia earlier this year, but not for a free book.
Â
Surprise!
Â
You know what it’s like, you ask so many times, that you forget to check for the answer. It had been several days since my last submission following the launch of The Grange Trilogy and the launch special offer, and I had in fact forgotten all about it. So all the greater was the surprise when I saw the email telling me that this time the answer was … ‘yes’!
Â
And that’s why I didn’t see it coming.
Â
When and Where?
Â
So … here it is: over the coming long weekend, Friday, 25th to Monday, 28th, Amanda Cadabra and The Hidey-Hole Truth will be free to download from your favourite online bookshop. It is planned for Amazon, Kobo, Google, Apple Books, Barnes & Noble and more.
Â
Here is the link to the book page with buttons to take you to various bookshops, in case you want to bookmark it: https://amandacadabra.com/book-1-hidey-hole-truth/
Â
Your Chance, Their Chance
Â
Some authors do have their first book on permafree, but Amanda Cadabra and The Hidey-Hole Truth is usually priced at $3.99. After the long weekend, I don’t know when it will be free again, so … please grab your copy in time. If you already have it, please share the love with your friends so they can take their opportunity too. You can link this Letter to Readers or share a post about it you’ll see starting this Friday on the Holly Bell pages at Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, TikTok, YouTube and X. It would mean a very great deal to me.
Â
Next
Â
I’ll be back on Friday with a reminder and a fun video. Until then …
Â
Happy reading,
Â
Holly
