Why ‘Thank You’?
There are few things as satisfying as feeling and expressing appreciation. And you might wonder why I would be thanking you for the launch of a new book, Amanda Cadabra and The Twilight Toxin.
Well, long gone are the days when an author sat up in their ivory tower and dispatched their manuscript to a publisher to take care of the rest. Especially for an independent author, like me, it is, in a sense, a team of thousands, even millions of individuals.
‘Doing What?’
You may ask. Well, some are specific: sub-editors, beta readers, formatters, and cover illustrators. Then the seen supporters: the precious subscribers, the followers on social media, those who post reviews, who like, love, comment, share, who download the special offers, and those beloved readers who take the time to email me and give a lift just when I need it most.
How I See You
But beyond those, the unseen-on-paper, as it were. Do you know how I see them? How I see you? I am up high at a favourite place north of London where I love to go and fly my kite when I can. It overlooks a valley below, Hertfordshire stretching out before me. And I see you, and all the other readers, on the grass, on picnic blankets, on camping chairs, stretching out as far as the eye can see. Some are readers of the Amanda Cadabra books now, and some to come. Some who download, some who buy, some who read here or on Facebook or watch a video on TikTok or just give Amanda a glance in passing, but will one day pick up her adventures.
So it includes all of those I write for and one day will write for, because you all feed in somehow to the energy behind my writing, how I write.
And so, if you are reading this, this video is for you.

The Launch Carnival
Bringing the launch to you in the most entertaining way I could was a colossal task. And when the next book is ready, I will do it all again, and it will be worth it. If you are a subscriber, then you will have read the hilariously rocky road to launch day. Along the lines of If It Can Go Wrong, It Will, and How To Fix Each Bump.
The results? 13,000 plus downloads of the free-for-the -launch Amanda Cadabra and The Nightstairs, according to figures so far, and the most successful launch for Amanda Cadabra and The Twilight Toxin of any sequel yet in the series.
The Beginning …
But now, it is time to tell you that this is NOT the final destination, for next weekend will see another launch and a video unlike any I have created for you before! And naturally, there is a tale to tell behind that launch! Yes … coming up.
